Super 6’s Competition

Rules and Notes 2024

Dress Code: Club Tops & Greys
Results texted to Super 6’s Secretary, Tom Evans M: 07714235601 immediately
after match, with Team sheets to follow by email.

Rules:

  • Each team will consist of 3 Pairs.
  • Each of the 3 games will be 3 bowls pairs, with 2 set of 9 ends.
  • Trial ends prior to the first set must only be 2 bowl.
  • A set won is worth 1 point, a drawn set is worth ½ point each.
  • If, a game ends 2 sets to nil, then a bonus point is awarded to the successful pair.
  • If, after 2 sets a game is 1½ – ½, then the pair winning a set gains the bonus point.
  • If, however, after 2 sets played the score is 1 set each, a best of 3 ends tie-break set will commence, worth 1 further point.
  • In the tie-break, it is ends won regardless of shots scored.
  • An individual game can therefore be won 3 – 0, 2½ – ½ or 2 -1.
  • This process, repeated over the pairs 3 games played, may produce an overall match winner, best of 9 points.
  • If, however, points are level at 4½ – 4½, each team will choose 1 pair to play a best of 3 ends tie-break to determine the overall winners. Again, it is ends won.
  • There are no burnt ends, the jack is to be re-spotted to the 2 metre “T.”
  • Games are to commence at 6:30pm, and in the event of a Club having 2 teams drawn at home on the same night, those games will be played on either half of the green.
  • Games will start following a coin toss to decide who plays first, as in a regular league game. The team winning the toss will choose, in each pairing individually, whether to keep or give away the jack. That choice transfers in the second set to the other pair. If a tie break is required, in any situation, then winner of the toss gets the choice on the first and third ends of the tiebreak. Again, that choice is transferred in the second set.
  • Entry by Official Entry form, completed with 6 named players, received by official closing date.
  • Clubs with 2 or more Teams must have a separate pool of 6 or more players for each Team.
  • A player is bound to a Team for the duration of the competition.
  • Unlimited number of substitutes may be used, provided the substitute has not played in another Team for that Club.
